Direct Billing & Insurance Coverage for Acupuncture in Vancouver

Before your appointment:

  • Please bring your insurance card or have your policy details available.
  • To make it easy, we ask for your details to be completed with your initial intake form.
  • Some insurers require consent on file for direct billing, so we collect that from you as well.

At your appointment:

  • We submit your claim electronically at the end of your appointment.
  • You pay only the uncovered portion (if applicable).

After your visit:

  • You’ll receive a detailed receipt emailed to you or printed for your records.
  • Coverage depends on your individual plan, most plans cover $500/year per modality.
  • Direct billing is available for most major insurers. Any remaining balance is paid at the time of your visit.
  • Some plans (such as Empire Life and Medevie) require a physician referral on file, please email this to us as well.
  • Some may reimburse only a portion of the visit.
  • We recommend confirming your acupuncture coverage directly with your insurer prior to your appointment.

If we’re unable to bill your plan directly:

  • Full payment is collected by Alcove at the time of your visit
  • You’ll receive a receipt to submit for reimbursement
  • Usually you can self-submit through your own portal online and are often reimbursed within 24-48 hrs

 

We accept direct billing for acupuncture treatments under Insurance Corporation of British Columbia (ICBC).

If you’ve been in a motor vehicle accident:

  • You are automatically pre-approved for 12x acupuncture visits under ICBC Enhanced Care, within 3 months for your accident.
  • After that, we can request a treatment extension if needed.
  • No out-of-pocket is required.
  • Please bring your claim number and adjuster details.

All your details, including your charts are available to you by request or you can also access receipts through your Jane account online.
